Schaumburg, Illinois: The City Itself, the Drug Addiction Crisis There, and a Potential Resolution

drugAll About the City of Schaumburg: The City Itself in Review and in Summary and Highlighted

Schaumburg is a lovely, well known, and popular village located in Cook County in the northeastern quadrant of the state of Illinois, in the United States.  The village is a northwestern suburb of Chicago essentially and it is part of the Golden Corridor too. Schaumburg is located roughly only a mere 28 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop and is approximately just 10 miles northwest of O’Hare International Airport.  As of the 2010 census, the village had a total population of 74,227 as reported by the United States Census Bureau.

The village is known for a lot of things.  For example, the village contains the world headquarters of Motorola Solutions and one of only two IKEA stores in Illinois.  It also contains the Woodfield Mall, the 11th largest mall in The United States according to List of largest shopping malls in the United States, which at most times has over 300 stores.  Schaumburg’s historic and impressive transition from a rural community to that of a suburban metropolis began with Alfred Campanelli’s first large scale suburban-style development in 1959 and Woodfield Mall’s opening on September 9, 1971.  The city is now a very economically strong powerhouse in the Chicago metro area.

Schaumburg is bordered geographically by Hoffman Estates and Palatine to the north, Rolling Meadows to the northeast, Elk Grove Village to the southeast, Roselle to the south, Hanover Park to the southwest, and Streamwood to the west.

As for its history, by the mid-nineteenth century, settlers first began to arrive from Germany and the eastern United States to Schaumburg.  Legend has it that the earliest settler was Trumball Kent from Oswego, New York. Kent, a “Yankee,” as settlers from New England were called in the west, founded a settlement in 1835 not far from what is now called Olde Schaumburg Centre, formerly known as Sarah’s Grove.  The Village of Schaumburg was finally incorporated on March 7, 1956, but the heritage of Schaumburg dates back to the much earlier times when the first inhabitants of the area were members of the Sauk, Fox, Pottawatomie, and Kickapoo Indian tribes.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse on the Rise in Schaumburg: A Grim Scenario for Many

Sadly, drug addiction and substance abuse has flown to an epic proportion in the greater Chicago area.  This is an area that never really used to be affected much by drug and alcohol addiction before, but it most certainly is being affected now.

Chicago in general has recently earned a name for itself in being the heroin capital of the nation, and of all the cities in and around the greater Metro area, Schaumburg is one of the worst when it comes to heroin abuse and addiction.  This is a saddening truth to say the least, but it is a truth nonetheless.  If something is not done soon to address or rectify it then the issue will only get much, much, much worse.  The issue here has already approached epidemic-level proportions, and it is only feared to worsen in the coming years.

Facts and Statistics: The Real World Data and the Dirt on the Addiction Crisis in the U.S.

In an effort to provide the reader or even the causal peruser with just some of the basic, qualified, intricate, and very detailed and valuable context and information as to just how very serious and severe and dangerous and deadly of an issue drug addiction and substance abuse is in the United States in general and all over the place, some facts and statistics and details were found, recorded, and published below.   In truth, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, (SAMHSA), the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, (NSDUH), and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, (NIDA), and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), are to be thanked as it is there information that has been included below for the reader to gain and accomplish an idea of just how dangerous, deadly, and saddening this issue really is:

  • According to the most recent statistics, more than two million Americans are currently dependent on morphine alone, and that is just one of many different types of prescription drugs that are used and abused in the nation.  A lot of this is because pharmaceutical companies produced 416 tons of the drug in 2010.  They produce about that much every single year.  There is an abundance of the drug and there is no question about that.  In truth, there is enough of this drug in the nation right now to dope of every single American for weeks.  The pharmaceutical companies and Americans’ won misplaced trust of them is becoming the downfall of Americans’ health.

  • More than 60% of morphine addicts steal drugs from a relative or close friend to just get their next fix.  When it comes to drugs like morphine, the average age an addict starts using is 21.3.  Sadly, young adults are the most at risk for drug abuse.  This is particularly troubling with morphine because morphine has a very, very negative effect on the mind of a young adult; far more negative in fact than the effect that it has on the mind of a full grown adult.  Morphine and heroin are the two most commonly abused drugs by individuals over the age of forty in Schaumburg.

  • A typical morphine addict will abuse the drug for 14 years before seeking treatment unless his or her family intervenes with him or her.  Morphine has one of the highest relapse rates of any drug by far, and this is why it is so hard to get off of unless professional help is sought out.  The same is true for Vicodin, OxyContin, Percocet, Opana, and Dilaudid.  All of these drugs are more addictive than pure heroin and these drugs are legal.  Typically speaking these drugs are the most commonly abused ones by far in Schaumburg.

  • Morphine is the third most common cause of drug-related emergency room admissions in the United States.  When combined with other prescription drugs, prescription drugs in general cause more overdoses and more deaths than all other drugs combined.  Prescription drug abuse has actually been labeled an epidemic because of how severely universal this crisis now is.  Sadly, this has been a big way the lot of life in Schaumburg with many of the locals abusing morphine and prescription drugs.

Rehabilitation: How People Are Beating Addiction Once and for All in and Around Schaumburg

Drug and alcohol addiction has been labeled one of the number one health-related issues of the 21st-century according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC). In truth, this terrible issue of addiction is now the third leading cause of preventable death in the United States, with smoking and obesity being the only things that rank higher than that does.

When faced with addiction, one has to be able to think with a proper solution for the issue. With drug and alcohol addiction, it can be quite difficult to figure out what to do, because the issues themselves are so severe and devastating to begin with. In truth, it isn’t even just the addict himself or herself who is affected, but the addict’s entire family, extended family, loved ones, and even coworkers are affected by the addict abusing drugs and alcohol regularly. Because of this, the need for a solution to the issue became very apparent.

The key to beating a drug or alcohol addiction once and for all lies in the individual who is addicted taking a course through an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization such as the drug rehabilitation Schaumburg. These types of programs that are offered at the drug rehab Schaumburg, are the most successful because they cover so many different aspects and facets of the addiction crisis that one is dealing with. The truth of the matter is that one can get off of drugs at any time, but he or she will always need help and will always have the help that he or she needs at a rehab center. This is the key to getting off of drugs and alcohol in Schaumburg.

Inpatient rehab centers are so successful because they offer both detox and rehab both. With detox, an addict will be able to achieve total and complete physical relief from chemical dependence. With rehab, one will be able to find a total and complete eradication of all aspects and facets of mental addiction. With these two techniques combined, literally anyone in Schaumburg, no matter who they are, or how long they have been using drugs and alcohol, no matter what they have been using, no matter how often that use it, nor does it matter how much they use when they use it, quite literally anyone in Schaumburg can get off of drugs and alcohol with the drug rehab Schaumburg in place.
